Moving JSI, EDI, & JAS Data from Aims

Moving JSI, EDI, & JAS Data from Aims

Introduction

The following document explains the steps that must be followed in JAS to move data from the aims directory to the main JAS directory.

What to do for JAS

Step 1: Locating the drives

Locate the drive where your JAS is installed on, as well as the drive that has the "aims" folder.

Step 2: Purging

Before copying anything, the purging of temporary files should be run with all 3 options selected (Purge temporary files, Purge variable files created by REBALANCING program & Purge files created by FIX FILE STRUCTURE).
Once the purging has been completed, you can now move the data.

Step 3: Create a new data folder

Create a new data folder in the main JAS directory for each data company that you have. For example, if JAS is located in J:\, create a new folder called “data1” in the J directory. This should be done for each data company that you have.

Step 4: Move the data

In the aims folder, there will be a folder called  “DATA1”. Move all the data in this folder to new folder that you had created in the main JAS folder. Do the same for the following data companies.

Step 5: Move control.dbf

In the aims directory, there is a file called “control.dbf”. This must be copied to the main JAS folder.

Step 6: Move the files from the lib folder

In the aims directory, there is a folder called “lib”. There is also a folder called “lib” in the main JAS folder. The “lib” folder in the main JAS should be renamed or moved to a different directory, and the one in aims must be copied over.

Step 7: Change the pointer

Currently, jasmaster.txt (which is located in the main JAS directory) is pointing to the AIMS folder. This must be changed to gather the information from the main JAS folder. Open jasmaster.txt and change the pointer. For example, if it currently lists "K:\AIMS" and the main JAS folder is in "J:\" it must be changed to "J:\"

What to do for EDI

Step 1: Copy the data

In the aims folder, there is a folder called 'edipro". There is also a folder in the main JAS directory called "edipro". The information in the "edipro" folder from aims must be copied to the "edipro" folder in the main JAS directory. For example, the information from K:\AIMS\EDIPRO\ must be copied to J:\JAS\EDIPRO.
Important note: Do not replace everything in J:\JAS\EDIPRO with what it is in K:\AIMS\EDIPRO; both folders contain important information. Instead of replacing, it must be copied. For example, if K:\AIMS\EDIPRO had 10 files and J:\JAS\EDIPRO had 20, once the copy has been done J:\JAS\EDIPRO should now contain 30 files.

Step 2: Change the communications directory

In EDI go to:

  • Maintenance
  • EDI Control File

Ensure that the appropriate communications directory is listed.

Step 3: Ensure that the mailboxes contain the appropriate paths

In EDI go to:

  • Maintenance
  • Browse/Update Mailbox

Click on the appropriate mailbox.
Select "Mailbox Variable Settings - 2".

Change the AS2 Inbox & AS2 Outbox to no longer point to the aims directory.

The paths must be changed for all mailboxes that were originally pointing to the AIMS folder.

Once complete, go back to "Mailbox Settings" and select "Update/Exit".

What to do for JSI

Step 1: Move the data

In the aims folder, if there is a "JSI" folder, copy this informationthere will be a folder called  “DATA1”. Move all the data in this folder to new folder that you had created in the main JAS folder. Do the same for the following data companies.

Step 2: Modify the pointer in JSI

In JSI go to:

  • Utilities
  • System Setup

Click on the "G.Ledger" tab.
Select "General".

Change the JAS Data Directory to the appropriate path.
  • In this example the path was changed from J:\AIMS\DATA1 to J:\DATA1

Step 3: Changing the path listed in the JAS bridge

Note: This only needs to be done if the customer is using the JAS bridge.

In JAS go to:

  • Specialx
  • G/L Bridge
  • Processing
  • System OPtions-Chart Acct

Ensure that the JSI paths are adjusted to no longer point to aims.
Click on "Update".
