These instructions can be used to copy data from your server to your laptop or from one data company to another. You can copy data from a live data company to the demo company so that new programs can be tried, training of new employees can be held, or it can be used just as a refresher course without manipulating live data.
Please follow the instructions below with all users out of JAS so current data can be incorporated into the transfer.
Depending on what version of Windows is set up on your station either right click on the Start button and go to Explore or click on the folder icon on the toolbar. |
Locate JAS or AIMSTEST on your server. (In this case we will say that JAS is located on the M:\drive).
Open the folder called Data1 or the Data Company to be copied.
On the right side of the screen Select All by pressing the CTRL button and the letter ‘A’ at the same time. All the lines will then be highlighted.
Right click and select Copy. |
Scroll up to the drive where JAS is located and right click on the Data1 folder. Select the Paste option. This same method can be used to copy to Data2 (Demo Company).
It can take a few minutes for the information to copy over. |
Once complete, log into the company of JAS where the data was copied to and go to Utilities. Run a complete Fix File structure for that specific data company.
Once complete, exit JAS and verify the data. |
Open JAS and go to:
**BEWARE: Once this option is selected it will run immediately**, so ask everyone to log out of JAS prior to starting.
As it starts to run the program will lock JAS to prevent any non-master users from going back into JAS while the program is running.
The copy will continue.
Once the process is complete the system will automatically unlock. (Let your users know that they can log into JAS again.)
A message will the display so the user can verify a process log.
The log will look similar to the one seen here. |
Once complete, log into the company of JAS where the data was copied to and go to Utilities. Run a complete Fix File structure for that specific data company.
Once complete, exit JAS and verify the data. |
