Lexicom AS2 Installation Guide

Lexicom AS2 Installation Guide

Getting Started

Before beginning the installation:
 - Jonar will contact Cleo to have Lexicom setup.
 - Cleo will then send an email to supply a link to where the Lexicom software can be downloaded.

Communication Requirements

  1. Internet connection with static External IP address. (We do not recommend using a dial-up connection as it can have
  2. consequences if the connection is severed in the middle of the transmission.)
  1. Work station to host the AS2 program.
  1. Open a port to the station hosting the AS2 program. We suggest port# 5080.
  1. TCP/IP network interface configuration.

System Requirements

  1. Windows 98/2000/NT/XP OS
  1. Graphical User Interface (GUI) required.
  1. 100 MB of temporary space.
  1. Properly configured internet connection.
  1. 128 MB RAM or more (recommended).
  1. 100 MB free disk space (approximately).
  1. Display properties must be set for more than 16 colors.
  2. When Lexicom is installed as a Windows service, the user must be aware that, by default, Windows services run under
  3. a local system account that is unable to see mapped network drives. If a network drive must be accessed via Lexicom,
  4. then the user will have to use full network path names (UNC paths) instead of mapped network drives. This means that
  5. when the user is configuring Lexicom for the first time, the complete path will have to be manually inputted to the network
  6. drive. This will create the inbox and outbox (mailbox settings). Also, the network share permissions should be reviewed.

Installation

Step One: Download the Installation File

The user will receive an e-mail with instructions from where to download the installation file. This email should contain your serial number and an attached file which is your temporary license key.

Save this attachment to your desktop for easy access later on.

Direct your browser to the web address indicated in the email in order to download the file.

Select the full download including Java VM appropriate to the platform you are running i.e.: Windows, and click the link to begin the download.
Click the "Save" button

Save the file to your Desktop.

Step Two: Install the Lexicom Software

To begin the Lexicom installation, double click on the "Install.exe" that was saved to your desktop. This action will extract the information file.

Run the installation wizard.

Once the wizard is loaded, read the instructions carefully.

Click “Next”.

The wizard will then instruct the user to read the “Getting Started Guide” which you should have printed and reviewed before beginning the installation.

Click "Next".

The next screen will prompt the user to accept the License agreement. Select the first option to accept the agreement

The next screen will explain Cleo’s LexiCom return policy.

Please review it and click "Next" to continue.

The following screen will allow you to select the destintion that you will use to install the software. the deffault is C:/Program/Files/Lexico; We suggest that you DO NOT change the default setting.

Important note: There is one exception to this - if you are using Windows 7 64 bits, it is  suggested to change the install path to C:/Lexicom  (remove the "program files")

Please note: You must install LexiCom to a physical drive. Do not install LexiCom to a mapped or network drive.

You can install Lexicom to a server, but all workstations must pull their icons from the server installation.

The following screen will ask you to choose which components you wish to install.
Install only the default or “Typical” installation selections “LexiCom” and “LexiCom Dialer”.

It is NOT necessary to install the options for the GXS Network IBC Dialer.

The next screen will ask the user to choose to install LexiCom as a service. It is strongly advised to so.

Install LexiCom as a service for the following advantages:
  1. The service can run continuously. A user does not have to be logged into the computer to start LexiCom. This is important for users who want to schedule actions to run automatically. This is even more important for users who must have a local host always running listening for incoming messages.
  2. The GUI can still be started while LexiCom is running as a service. When the GUI is exited, the service continues to run.
  3. The command line and API methods also can be used while LexiCom is running as a service.

Click “Next” to proceed to the pre-installation summary screen.

Before proceeding review and verify that your options are correct, then click "Next" to proceed with the installation.

If something is inaccurate the user may click "previous" to go back and make corrections.

The following screen will show the installation progress.

The final screen will display a confirmation to advise you that the installation is complete.

Temporary License Registration

Register Your Temporary License

The first license registered is normally a temporary, 60-day license. The permanent license is obtained through Cleo support by emailing the Serial Number and Host ID shown in the License window, as will be described below. LexiCom will not work without a valid license key.

Register Lexicom using the Temporary Key

In order to run Lexicom, the user must register using a temporary key. Afterwards, the user will receive this key within a file named “license_key.txt” in the e-mail received from Cleo.

To register, follow the instructions below:
Click the “Start” button, then “Programs", point your mouse to the Lexicom group, then select the icon to launch LexiCom for the first time.

A window will appear asking the user to enter a valid license key.

Click "Update License".

The next window allows the user to browse for the location of your license key. This is the file that was attached to the email you received from Cleo. Click the “Browse” button and select the “license_key.txt” file from the desktop where it was directed to be saved earlier.

Click "Continue".

Permanent License Registration

Once the user has installed Lexicom, before the end of the 60-day period, a Permanent License Key must be requested. To do so, complete the form located at: www.cleo.com/lexicomkey

The user will be asked to supply the “Host ID” and “Serial Number” to Cleo in order to obtain a permanent key.

The user can find the “Host ID” and “Serial Number” in LexiCom under the menu items Help> License.

Supply the requested information and a machine-bound permanent key will be emailed back as an email attachment named “license_key.txt”.

Simply copy this file into the LexiCom home directory and the permanent key is automatically imported the next time LexiCom is run.

To update Lexicom with the permanent license, go to:

Lexicom > Help > License > Update License.

Now follow the same steps as above as when you installed the temporary License.
